the real houseguest of [insert city here]
12.6.2011
Playing houseguest may seem simple, but there are a few golden rules by which one should always abide. Thankfully, Domino Magazine's Muse Marian (hers was always a favorite segment of mine) spells them out for those of us who may need a bit of a refresher. Hosting a poorly mannered guest can be a miserable experience (we all have our horror stories!). Likewise, a phenomenal houseguest can be tons of fun. If you plan to be a guest this holiday season, I suggest that you read the text – memorize it even! – so that you leave your host with happy memories while he/she is cleaning up the aftermath of your visit. If you’ve anything to add (or vent about), please do so in the comments - I love to read them!

I remember this one! Oh how I miss thee Domino.... I'll be a houseguest in Lancaster and Annapolis over the holidays - can always use a refresher! xxKO
So impossibly clever (and correct)! After one too many terrible houseguests this summer, I think I may frame this and leave it in the guest room...
Kelly - I miss Domino, too! Oh, I can't even begin to tell you. I literally go through my archives once a week. It's an illness...
Lena - It'd definitely send a message to your guests! So hilarious. I say go for it. I, too, know from experience how bad a bad houseguest can be. Grown-up slumber parties are definitely a fine art :)
What a clever little spread! No one thinks about advising the guests, only the hostess! This is so precious!
i need to send this to the peeps who are staying with me throughout december. get a clue, people.
This is so great! Gosh I miss domino. Please scan more articles!
Mary - I most certainly will! Really, the entire magazine needs to be digitalized so that we design-minded folk can access it whenever we please. Do you hear me, Conde Nast?!
