remembering audrey

Everywhere I turn, people are abuzz about Vanity Fair’s beautiful May cover starring a doe-eyed Audrey Hepburn. The fanfare reminds me of the May 2003 issue of Town & Country, which also featured an interview with one of Ms. Hepburn’s sons and a forensic look at her elegant style. I quite enjoyed reviewing the piece again, and am especially fond of the bulleted “Did You Know” facts. I had forgotten that Audrey was discovered by Colette at Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, which is kind of fun to think about (…says the history nerd). Anywho, the entire article in question can be found here. I hope it’s enough to hold you over ‘til you can get your hands on the newest Vanity Fair : )

my stuff: sofia coppola

Vanity Fair always has the best features. I picked up the March issue today – which, by the way, has the most beautiful cover – and discovered that Sofia Coppola is the subject of this month’s “My Stuff.” I enjoyed it tremendously and thought you might, as well. Who would have thought that her favorite color is hot pink?

Someone once told me that you learn much more about a person by seeing their things than you do in conversation. This is why I love features - like Vanity Fair’s “My Desk” or House Beautiful’s “My Bed" - that give glimpses into the private lives of interesting people. I don’t know much about British milliner Philip Treacy, but from the look of his “My Desk” feature in the November ’11 issue of Vanity Fair, I can tell that we’d be the best of friends. Pink ink and ostrich feathers? Please and thank you. I hope that, one day, I have the opportunity to visit the Philip Treacy offices in person (ideally, for a hat fitting).

isabelle lucas for vanity fair

No more than five minutes after I submitted my previous post on J.Crew’s September catalog, I find these perfect beachy images of Isabelle Lucas posing for Vanity Fair. Now I want it to remain Summer for three more months! Can we stop for a moment to admire those scalloped shorts?! I die. Isabelle, you are a doll. How have I not heard of you before?
