want of the day

A few years ago when Tom Ford's "Nikita" sunglasses came to market, I purchased the ivory pair. They are the most fun to wear and totally make me feel like a '50s movie star (even in workout clothes!). This Spring, I'm aching for the "Nikita" in tortoise. They're so damn chic! As I plan to sport cat-eye glasses my entire life, I'll be wearing them well into my 80's. And then I can pass them onto my grandchildren. I think it's a good investment, don't you? :)

My wishlist is rather long these days. As a means of working through my shopaholic tendencies, I created a college. In random order... tortoise tom ford nikita sunnies, nars' matte lip pencil in dragon lady (best red ever), an ipad mini, grace: a memoir, an old pentax (I'm feeling film cameras as of late), the saddle original flea, pierrepont hicks' blue backseat blanket, marais usa double strap suede flats, j.crew khaki toothpick pants, j.crew's perfect shirt in black watch, a fabulous orange hermes scarf, and lastly... someone to carve a yorkshire pumpkin for my front porch. That's it, really. Happy Sunday!

tom ford's return to womenswear

I find the top-secret debut of Tom Ford’s first womenswear line in over six years to be endlessly fascinating. Ford, who detests our culture’s “need for immediacy,” decided to hold a private viewing of his collection for 100 of Fashion’s most influential journalists and editors; no photographers, save for his own camera crew, were invited.

His was no ordinary show. He chose to use women who are influential to him to model his collection, personally introducing them by name as they walked down the runway. While photos (and a video) of the line will not be released until December, the headshots of Ford’s models somehow leaked to the press. As you can see in the image above, the lineup included the likes of Daphne Guinness, Beyoncé, and Karen Elston… a star-studded event, if I do say so myself! Cathy Horyn of the New York Times reports that the collection included, “...sharp pantsuits in black silk or a leopard pattern… sheer blouses… and stilettos with ankle ties and seamed black stockings.” Swoon! Word on the street is that Ford’s collection will appear in an editorial in the January issue of Vogue Paris… are you excited? I certainly am :)
