paris 1962

I'm captivated by these candid photographs taken in 1962 Paris. Can’t you almost hear the background noise of clinking of champagne glasses and boisterous French conversation that was occurring when the shutter closed? The individual who uploaded these photos to flickr says that the images were taken during “the same week Yves St. Laurent’s runway show valued Dior to new heights.” Ooh lá lá. Merci beaucoup to Bri Emory of designlovefest for originally posting these lovely pictures. Her blog is bursting with colors + inspiration-- if it isn’t on your Google Reader, you must add it right now!

sweatshop à paris

Sweatshop is a new, teeny tiny sewing café in Paris that couldn't be more adorable. A play on internet cafés, at Sweatshop you can rent Singer sewing machines by the hour. “I think it’s time for people to start making things for themselves,” one of the café's owners told The New York Times. Sweatshop also offers sweets, coffee + sewing lessons. With no room to set up a sewing machine in my own apartment, this café sounds like heaven! I hope this trend expands to the States :)
