mary mcdonald's dollhouse

One of my absolute favorite interior designers, Mary McDonald, recently partnered with Martin Lawrence Bullard to design a couture dollhouse (he decorated the top floor, she le rez-de-chaussée). Not that I even need to say this, but this wasn’t just any dollhouse. As the final product was to be auctioned off for a cause (UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital, to be exact), Mary went all out. Among other things, the house comes with de Gournay-esque wallpaper, custom upholstery and plastic pugs. Basically, I want to move in! All I have to say is that when I have kids, I’m going to have wayyy more fun with their dollhouses than they do :)

mary mcdonald + diana vreeland

I love a good window display, particualry when it brings together two of my favorite personalities: interior designer Mary McDonald + former Vogue editor Diana Vreeland. Ms. McDonald created this scene - an interpretation of Vreeland's famous New York salon - for last year's Legends of La Cienega weekend in West Hollywood. I so wish I could have seen in in person! I'm loving her quirky questionnaire anwers (and my, what nice handwriting she has). Happy Thursday, lovies :)

Interior designer Mary McDonald’s book, "Mary McDonald: Interiors: The Allure of Style", was published yesterday. Has anyone had a chance to flip through it yet? I’m dying to take a peak! In celebration of Ms. McDonald’s first book, I thought I’d post these photos of her ultra-glamourous office as seen in the January/February ’06 issue Domino (she also graced its cover). I love how, similar to Charlotte Moss, she also has a wall of muses behind her desk. I need to start working on my own! I think it might serve as constant motivation : )
