chloë sevigny's east village abode

I think Chloë Sevigny’s January 2007 cover for House & Garden is one of the most beautiful covers the magazine ever published. Can you believe that it was shot in her very own rose garden? The garden was included with the purchase of her East Village ground floor apartment. What a luxury! And the apartment’s interior? So feminine and cool. David Cafiero, the designer with whom Ms. Sevigny worked alongside to create this space, says they were inspired by the book, Billy Baldwin Decorates. "We liked that beaten-down WASP late-sixties look. Those Geraldine Page interiors," David tells House & Garden. My kind of people! I think my favorite piece in Chloë’s home is the huge P.F. Poole canvas hanging in the living room. "I first saw the painting at the downtown design shop Lost City Arts, years ago," Sevigny says. "It was way beyond my price range. I kept going back for three years and looking at it, trying to talk them into taking less. Finally, they slashed the price in half. I don’t know why, but I love it." In my humble opinion, that’s what creating a home is all about.. investing in pieces you love :)
