chez carol fertig

When browsing the NYSD's House archive (as I’m often prone to do), I was both delighted and surprised to come across the apartment of designer Carol Fertig. You see, Ms. Fertig is the sister of my grandmother’s very dear friend, Judith. Small world, right? As you may have inferred by the above photos, Carol is a woman of serious style. Like Charlotte Moss, she decorates her office space with photos of powerful women and things that inspire. Couldn’t you stare at that bulletin board for hours? I've met Judith several times, but I hope I get a chance to meet Carol in the future. I have a feeling we'd get along swimmingly :)

tablescape envy

House Beautiful does tablescapes the way that House & Garden did vanities (if you can't recall that feature, click here!). Surely you've noticed one of HB's gorgeously dressed tables before - always guest-curated by someone fabulous, they're show-stopping. The two above, saved from past issues of the magazine, are my favorites. The first was designed by Charlotte Moss and the second by Georgiana Chapman + Keren Craig of Marchesa. Are you swooning yet? In her feature, Charlotte Moss had some food for thought that I simply had to highlight: "My mother always said, 'knock yourself out or don't bother.' If you're not entertaining yourself and your guests, why bother?" Touché, Ms. Moss. I couldn't agree more :)

speaking of charlotte moss...

I was just snooping around on her website, and I found a link to this gorgeous line of enamel bracelets that she did for Halcyon Days. I mean, don’t you want those pieces on your wrist right now? I hope Santa’s reading...

charlotte moss for brunschwig & fils

I came across this gorgeous Charlotte Moss for Brunschwig & Fils ad in an old issue of House & Garden-- I just had to scan it for the blog! I'm a wee bit obsessed with Charlotte Moss... I’ve listened to her skirted roundtable interview at least five times (don’t judge!). Her girlish style is so appealing to me. And to thank that she once worked on Wall Street...

a ladylike boudoir

Ms. Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic posted these photos last year of Charlotte Moss’ room for the 2009 Kips Bay Decorator Show House. The theme of Charlotte’s bedroom suite was “Anything but Pink in the Bedroom.” She designed a très feminine sitting room with a masculine (yet still frilly!) adjoining bed chamber. While the bedroom is lovely, it is the sitting room that I’m infatuated with. Isn’t it perfection? I could just climb into that Porthault-dressed twin bed. The work of Charlotte Moss is truly the epitome of ladylike chic!
