alexa chung on...

I love reading about the favorite beauty products of It Girls, especially when they dish about the singular product that defines their look. For Alexa Chung, that product is eyeliner. Famous for always sporting a cat eye, Ms. Chung notes that she used to use gel liner but ditched it in favor of the felt-tipped pen. I, too, did the same years ago. There was a point in my life when I swore by Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner... and then I discovered YSL's Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils. Pure magic. When I ran out of my first tube, I took a chance on a drug store variety in a suspicially similar container and I liked it just the same - in fact, I'm wearing it right now. If you're in the market for some great eyeliner, check out L'oreal Paris' Lineur Intense liner in Carbon Black. C'est Fantastique!

alexa chung: primary school cool

How great is Alexa Chung on the cover of October’s Harper’s Bazaar UK? The use of a vintage camera as a styling prop gets me every time. I’m such a fan of her youthful, über hip style - she’s one of the few woman who can dress like a six-year-old and make it look like nothing you’ve ever seen. Though the “primary school cool” look doesn’t quite work on my curvy body (I’m more Marilyn Monroe than Jean Seberg), I’m on a mission to find something with a cute peter-pan collar. If you happen to come across something in your travels, do let me know :)

alexa chung: accidentally famous

I’ve always wondered exactly why Alexa Chung was famous, but I never took the time to  research + find out. The article (1, 2, 3) that accompanies these photos from her November 2010 editorial in Elle UK finally put my queries to rest. The piece, written by Avril Mair, is rather flattering-- Alexa seems like coolest girl (she claims her fame was an accident). On a slightly different note, isn’t that leopard hat to die for? It’s by the long-established London milliner, James Lock & Co. I want one! Oh Alexa, be my friend?!
