ryan korban + wsj

I can’t get enough of Ryan Korban as of late. These images of his SoHo studio were taken for the Wall Street Journal in December 2009 (I don’t know how I missed this!). His is 400 sq. ft space is divine.. I think I’ve spent close to an hour studying his living room. When viewing these photos, do you ladies catch yourself squinting in order to get a better look at the titles of his books? I certainly do! But, his art collection is what really catches my eye. I’d love to add some nudes to my gallery wall (I bet you could find great originals on etsy).

I see a kindred spirit in the young designer. The journalist notes, “Mr. Korban recently got a dining room table, but he put too much atop it to actually eat at it.” That sounds a lot like my place! I can’t help but cover all flat surfaces in my bedroom with books and shells and decorative accessories.. it’s an issue. I feel like most collectors have this problem (take Sibella Court, for example). I really think that the only solution is more space, as I am too attached to my books and things to give them away. Do you have this problem, too?

I love, love, love! Ryan Korban, all of his spaces are absolutely divine... this one is no different!

I love that his space seems cluttered at first glance (like a certain apartment I know....) until you notice all of the details and just how important they are.

keely -- I completely agree!

jessie -- yes, all of the details are v. important. I love how every little thing in his space is beautiful and has a purpose :)

I so wish I could design a space like this - I love that look of lots and lots of layers yet it somehow all goes together!! Such a cool look - and all in a small space!

Piper -- me, too. I'm going to attempt a similar look in my bedroom while I'm living back at home in KC.. I'm sure it is definitely much harder than one might assume!

I'm a big Ryan Korban fan too! Thanks for stopping by to say hello...I am following your blog now too! I only wish I could find the same white tufted bed that Gwyneth has! Hands down, one of my favorites!

Cheers,
Vanessa
