While I was listening to NPR over the weekend, a story regarding a supernova on the handle of the big dipper caught my attention (I’m big nerd). Apparently, supernovas in the milky way - this is where we live - occur only once every 100 years! It’s not visible to the human eye, but if you’d like to see it, a small telescope will do the trick.
