chez jean cocteau
02.9.2011

Above is eccentric artist/poet Jean Cocteau’s Milly-la-Forêt maison. My knowledge of Mr. Cocteau is limited (I do know that the man liked to hold professional meetings in his bedroom, where he would lay in bed and smoke opium...), but I would love to find out more. His home, which opened to the public this summer, houses original sketches by Proust and Picasso in addition to portraits by Warhol and Man Ray. Cocteau insisted that Madeleine Castaing decorate his home, hence the bold leopard wallpaper (which I think is divine!). Katie and Jane don’t know it yet, but I think a Matchbook field trip to Milly-la-Forêt is in order :)

I love Cocteau. I saw a fabulous exhibit in Montreal a few years ago and have loved him more ever since. I adore these pictures, especially that reading nook.
That leopard wallpaper is to die for!
I agree with Susan: the leopard wallpaper is heaven-sent. Have a happy {romantical} weekend! xo Lola
